Overal Campers is a one-man show: Christiaan Overal. Independent, self-employed since the mid 2000’s. My love for vans, pick-ups and 4x4’s developed at a very young age, growing up in the desert of Dubai. That coupled with a strong need for creative self-expression and a desire to follow my dreams, has led to Super Mega Amazing Business Company Number 1: Overal Campers.
I have spent many years in campervans myself, even including a 4 year stretch of full-time living in a van (these days they call it vanlife..) And so evolved a very first hand experience of campervan life, laying the basis for my design concepts today. You can be sure I know what works, and what doesn’t!
When it comes to making things, the details are very important to me. I love the mindspace needed for finding creative solutions and I believe my personal unique look on life is what helps me make products that are one of a kind (and appealing!)
Also VERY important: it has to be built to last. No planned obsolescence please! I like things to hold up over time, including the planet, our species, most living creatures (mosquitos excluded) and of course my clients’ vans.
As for work: Spring through to autumn are spent in my workshop turning empty transporters into my special brand of campervans. Repairing or installing parts on existing campervans now and then too. And dreaming up new designs, of course!
Winters.. are cold and dark in the North. So that's when I drift down to the beaches of Southern Europe for sun, sea and my other passion: surfing. In my view it is better to squeeze every hour of sunshine out of life than it is every Euro. Life is just better that way!
Freedom, inner peace, mindfulness, recreation, whatever you want to call it, is important. I firmly believe that going out into the world in a campervan is an excellent (maybe even the best) way to experience that.
